Your marketing isn't the problem. The lack of a marketing system is.
Cotinus helps solo operators and small service businesses turn scattered marketing efforts into structured, repeatable systems that actually drive growth.
Photographers. Personal trainers. Stylists. Therapists. Coaches. You’re brilliant at your work, but your marketing is held together with good intentions, a burst of motivation every few weeks, and some thoughts and prayers sprinkled in. The problem has always been the lack of infrastructure. And that's fixable.

Not sure where to start?
This is for you.
Everything you need to know about working with Cotinus in one place. What each service includes, what it costs, what to expect, and how to know which option is right for you right now.
Takes thirty seconds to download. Saves you a lot of guesswork.
Here's what's actually going on.
It's not you. It's your systems.
You're not lazy. You're not bad at marketing. And you definitely don't need to rebrand again. What you're experiencing is what happens when marketing runs on memory, motivation, and spare moments instead of a system.
Does this sound familiar?
A good month comes along. You're fully booked, heads down, doing the work you love. Marketing drops off completely, because honestly, when would you even fit it in?
Then things quiet down. Panic sets in. You post a few times. Maybe run a quick promotion. Reach out to a few old clients. Things pick up. And the cycle repeats. Every few months. Like clockwork.
The same questions keep surfacing
What should I even be posting? Why isn't this bringing in enquiries? Should I try a different platform? Do I need to redo my whole brand?
These aren't signs that you're failing. They're signs that the foundation was never properly built.
Most small business owners were never taught how to set marketing up as a system
You were handed a logo, pointed at Instagram, and told to figure it out.
So you did. Just inconsistently, reactively, and without anything connecting your content to your actual business goals.
The result is marketing that feels busy without being effective.
There's a fix. And it's far more simple than you think.
Most marketing falls into one of two camps.
Strategy without execution.
You get an impressive plan that's impossible to use day-to-day alongside running an actual business. It lives in a folder. Nothing changes.
Execution without strategy.
You pay someone to post content or run ads without fixing the foundations first. There's activity, but no direction. And no results you can actually explain.
Cotinus sits at the intersection of strategy & execution
We help solo operators and small service businesses define your strategy and build the structured, repeatable systems to support it and drive growth. Systems that you can actually use and sustain.
Clarity
Clear messaging, offers, and priorities so your marketing stops being vague and reactive.
Structure
Repeatable systems, templates, and content rhythms that eliminate the weekly "what do I post? When should I email my prospects?" spiral.
Connection
Marketing tied directly to your sales, your client experience, and your actual business goals, not isolated activity.
Efficiency
Processes for reusing content, reducing wasted effort, and making it easy to delegate when you're ready.

How we work together
Most clients start with The Build, move into The Guide, and, when the time is right, hand the wheel to The Engine. You don't have to do all three. But once you start, most people don't want to stop.
The Build: Your complete foundation
In four to six weeks, we audit your business, lock in your messaging, and build the operational systems that make showing up consistently actually manageable. Everything is built specifically for you. And all of it is yours to keep forever.
-
We start with your tech stack and systems audit before we build anything.
This includes assessing everything from your website, CRM, scheduling platforms, social channels, and every other tool in your business that keeps you running. Part of the audit is assessing whether each tool is right for you and your business, plus making sure that it’s being used to it’s full extent and doing the job you need it to do.
You receive a full written report of what's working, what needs changing, what's missing, and what to do first.
The value to you? No company big or small without or direction can hope to thrive. The Map gives you a clear picture of where your business is at and where we’ll head next, together.
-
The Cheat Sheet is your business brand and strategy guide in a nutshell.
Combining your business plan, brand guide, and messaging strategy, this becomes your go-to reference for who you are, who you serve, what you sell, what you say, and why you're the obvious choice.Plus the piece most business owners are missing: your internal growth goals so that every marketing decision has something real to be measured against, and so that when they going gets tough, you remember what you’re working towards.
The value to you? Every caption, email, podcast, website update, and briefing document starts here. A strategy guide that sets you up so well that it feels like cheating.
-
This is your full infrastructure layer. Built to your brand, your audience, and your actual workflow. We split this into two streams:
Brand content templates: carousels, static posts, Stories, promotional graphics, quote cards, lead magnet graphic, email header.
Business operation templates: marketing campaign brief, client project template, content calendar, and your newsletter template built directly in your email platform.
Value to you? You have an array of professional grade content in your belt ready to be deployed in minutes. Providing you a marketing operations baseline that doesn’t require reinventing the wheel every time.
-
The Rhythm is your complete operating system for how your business shows up across every channel, from social media, email, newsletters, and more. Through the Rhythm, we make sure that every touchpoint with your prospects and existing clients is planned, purposeful, and done in a way that you can actually execute (without the headache).
It’s delivered in two layers:
Your communications rhythm: which channels, what content, what cadence, and why each piece of content exists in relation to a real business goal.
Your project management rhythm: Rather than being reactive about all your marketing activities each week, we create a tailored, repeatable workflow rhythm that you can reuse, repurpose, and recycle, month-on-month.
The value to you? No more panicking about what your next post will be, when you should be creating content or planning your next promotion. You get a clear vision on the workflow and the output, well in advance. You are the conductor rather than following someone else’s queue.
-
There is no point building automation on top of a broken CRM. Before any workflow is built, your CRM is audited, cleaned, and properly structured to include the right fields, the right pipeline stages, the right tagging system, so that every lead that comes in is captured correctly and tells you something useful about your business.
Then, and only then, the automation is built. It will stay running quietly in the background, capturing and nurturing leads, while you focus on delivery.
The value to you? You are not only fishing for hot leads with a wide net but a whole fleet that works in the backend to nurture them. No more losing a hot lead because you were heads-down in client work.
The Guide: Your monthly advisory and accountability partner
The Build gives you the system. The Guide keeps you on track. Once a month we review your marketing operation together, including what's working, what needs adjusting, and what the next 30 days should look like. You leave every session with a clear plan and the strategic confidence that most small businesses never have access to.
-
90-minute monthly working session. You leave with a plan you feel confident in achieving.
-
Review of what actually drove enquiries last month, so decisions are based on data.
-
Small adjustments to templates and workflows to keep everything current.
-
Direct Slack or email access between sessions. Stuck on something? You don't have to figure it out alone.
The Engine: Your monthly do-it-for-you retainer
You have the system. You don't have the time to run it. The Engine is full delegation of your marketing operations, content, CRM, email, campaigns, and performance review, all running consistently in the background while you focus on the work only you can do. Not a social media manager. An operations partner who runs the whole system as it was built to be run.
-
Content edited and scheduled across your channels. Your voice, your brand, handled.
-
Active CRM management so leads are captured, followed up, and nurtured without you lifting a finger.
-
Cotinus coordinates with your designers, web developers, and any other providers so nothing stalls.
-
Monthly performance review. Enquiries, growth, engagement, and what's next.
Growing up the oldest daughter of five siblings in a family of founders and entrepreneurs, I learned early that building something from nothing takes a lot of elbow grease, heaps of resilience, and a heavy dose of type A structure.
These lessons stuck, and so did the habit of being the one who figures out how all the pieces fit together.
I grew up across cultures, states, and eventually counties. With grandmothers from Germany and Norway, a stepfamily from Mexico, and a K-6 Spanish immersion education, I was lucky to develop a way of seeing the world that resists easy categories. My multicultural lens that was sharpened by an international move to Brisbane in 2021 has shaped my approach centred on genuine curiosity.
After a decade moving through agency life, in-house corporate roles, healthcare, government, financial services, agriculture, and a brief stint in Ecuadorian shrimp feed, I kept seeing the same thing:
Talented people. Good businesses. Marketing held together by good intentions, a burst of motivation every few weeks, and some thoughts and prayers sprinkled in.
All because nobody had ever taught them how to build the infrastructure to do otherwise. So I stopped waiting for others to catch up and built Cotinus based on how marketing should be.
The name “Cotinus” comes from the Greek word for the olive wreath awarded to victors and leaders: ‘Kotinos."‘ I chose this as a quiet nod to my name and my mother's pregnancy with me spent in Greece (plus a lifelong love of Greek mythology — I actually had the complete series on tape and would listen for hours). I also chose the name for something I believe to be true about business: growth, when it's built on the right foundations, is something worth celebrating.
Outside of the work, I’m a proud Mental Health First Aid officer and an open advocate for making conversations about mental health as normal as conversations about physical health. And when I’m not building marketing systems, you'll find me deep in a book (110 read last year), exploring a local café with my husband, working through my third decaf coffee of the day, or being thoroughly supervised by her three rescue cats — Barry (Bazza), Wally (8kg and proud of it), and Salem (just Salem, thank you).

FAQs

I'll never pressure you into something you don't need.
Most clients start with The Build. If you're self-motivated and just needed the foundation sorted, that might genuinely be all you need from me.
The Guide becomes relevant when you've got the system in place but life keeps getting in the way of using it consistently, which, in my experience, is most people after about a month. Having a monthly check-in and an accountability partner makes an enormous difference.
The Engine is for someone who has the foundations, has the budget, and genuinely wants to hand the marketing function over (without making another in-house hire) so they can focus entirely on their actual work.
The honest answer is: start with The Build. See how you feel. The next step will usually make itself obvious.
-
I love answering this questions because the answer really matters.
A social media manager and digital marketing manager execute. They post, they schedule, they respond to comments, they set up paid ads, update your website. And if they're good at their job, they do it well. But they can only work with what they're given. If your messaging is unclear, they'll post unclear content. If your brand voice isn't defined, they'll guess. If there's no strategy behind the business, there's no strategy behind the content.
What I do comes before that. I build the system, the messaging, and the structure that makes a social media or digital marketing manage (or anyone else… who ever touches your marketing) actually effective.
In fact, one of the most common things I hear from clients is: "I want to hire a social media manager but I don't know what to tell them." That's exactly the problem The Build solves. Once the foundations are in place, hiring someone to execute becomes genuinely useful rather than just expensive.
-
Great! That's actually a really common starting point, and it doesn't mean we start from scratch.
The Build begins with an audit of everything you already have. What's working, what's missing, and what's quietly undermining your results without you realising. Often there's more to work with than people think. It t just needs to be organised, aligned, and connected properly :)
We build on what's solid and fix what isn't. Nothing gets thrown out for the sake of it. The goal is to make what you've already invested in actually work harder.
-
Less than you think and significantly less than you're currently spending making it up as you go.
For The Build, I ask for roughly 7 hours of your time across the 4 to 6 week project. 3-5 of those hours will be used for the workshop where we get to have some fun and geek out over your business together. he rest of the time is mainly to share existing materials, answer some questions about your business and your clients, and review what we've created together before it's finalised. The heavy lifting is mine.
For The Guide, you're committing to a 90-minute monthly session and being available over Slack or email when something comes up. That's it.
For The Engine, your main job is to show up and deliver your service. I handle the rest.
The whole point of what we build is to give you time back to do what you’re best at.
-
I work on a tiered system based on the complexity and size of the business. You can download the pricing guide here which will give you indicative starting prices.
You can also schedule a 30-minute discovery call with me so I can build you a tailored quote.
-
Absolutely. Everything Cotinus does works remotely. Sessions are held via Google Meet, communication happens over Slack and email, and deliverables are shared digitally.
I work with clients across Australia and have even worked with clients abroad, fully remotely. Brisbane is home and I love meeting my clients in person, but it has never been a limitation.
-
Not at all. The Build is a standalone project with a fixed price and a clear end point. You own everything we create together, including the messaging guide, the templates, the calendar, the automation. All of it is yours to keep and use independently.
At the end of The Build, we'll have a conversation about what's next for you. Some clients move straight into The Guide. Some take what they've built and run with it on their own and come back months later when they're ready for the next step. Some refer a friend and disappear happily into the sunset with their new marketing system.
There is no lock-in, no ongoing obligation, and no pressure. What I want is for you to leave The Build feeling like you got exactly what you needed. Whatever that looks like for you :)

Here's a simple gut-check. If you find yourself nodding at more than two of these, you're ready:
You've been meaning to "sort your marketing" for months, and it keeps getting pushed down the list
You post inconsistently. Sometimes a lot, sometimes not at all and you're not sure it's actually bringing in clients.
You've spent money on marketing before (a website, a designer, someone to run your socials) and you're still not seeing consistent enquiries
When someone asks you to explain what you do, the answer changes depending on the day.
You know your marketing should be better, but you don't know where to start.
If that's you, the answer is yes. You're ready.
And if you're still not sure, book a free discovery call. I'll tell you honestly whether I think Cotinus is the right fit. And if it's not, I'll tell you that too.
-
I hear this one a lot and I want to meet it with the honesty it deserves.
If marketing hasn't worked for you before, I'd gently bet it's because you were paying for activity without structure or strategy. A logo without messaging. Content without a strategy with the sole goal of “going viral.” Someone posting on your behalf without knowing who they were talking to or what they were trying to achieve. That's not a marketing failure. That's a foundation problem.
And the time thing. I understand, truly. You're already stretched. The last thing you want is another commitment on top of everything else. But here's the reframe I'd offer: the reason marketing takes so much time right now is precisely because there's no system holding it together. Every week you're starting from scratch, making decisions from scratch, second-guessing yourself from scratch.
That is the time cost of not having a foundation.
What we build together doesn't add to your plate. It removes the part of your plate that's been quietly draining your energy.
I'm different because I don't hand you a plan and wave goodbye. I build the actual infrastructure and I don't consider the job done until it's genuinely working for you.
You've been meaning to sort this out for a while now.
Let's actually do it.
Book a free 30-minute discovery call and we'll talk through where you are, where you want to be, and whether Cotinus is the right fit. No pitch. No pressure. Just an honest conversation.
